After the royal wedding in 2011 mother’s of the bride were very much influenced by what Carole Middleton wore to her daughter Kate’s wedding. It became known as the ‘Carole Middleton effect’. Kate’s mother looked impeccable on the day which sparked the trend for mother’s of the bride going that extra mile to be more stylish and glamorous than ever! The Queen always wears a very dignified mother of the bride dresses at all of the royal’s weddings and this time was no exception. She wore a very eye catching yellow outfit with matching hat and accessorising with pearls and white gloves.
When Andy Murray married Kim Sears his mother Judy Murray, looked ever so graceful in her mother of the bride outfit. She wore a very elegant straight knee length dress and cream wool coat. The bespoke dress was sand-coloured featuring a ivory bodice covered in lace, with see-through three-quarter length sleeves. Accompanied by nude suede shoes and matching bag. Her outfit was designed by the award winning designer, Joyce Young.
On Rosanna Davison’s wedding day her mother Diane Davison wore a simple but elegant long red silk dress with matching red sandals. Rosanna opted for a lace dress designed by Dawn Fitzgerald with an accompanying floral headpiece.
Hillary Clinton choose to wear a bright and bold fuchsia gown to her daughter, Chelsea Clinton’s New York wedding. The gown featured life-like florals cascading down the dress. It was custom made by a close friend, designer Oscar de la Renta.
Sharon Osbourne is another well known celebrity. At her son Jack Osbourne’s tropical Hawaii wedding she wore a very stylish custom made Amsale chiffon dress with long sleeves.
While Eva Amurri wore a stunning wedding gown designed by Lela Rose on her wedding day. Mother of the bride, Susan Sarandon, looked stunning in a creation that was also put together by Lela Rose. She wore a lovely silk faille sheath gown, that matched the same three dimensional lace neckline as the dress of the bride. It created a visual connection between the mother and the bride on the big day.
